This session will focus on research findings and implications for the Transitional Jobs field from the national Hard to Employ study, conducted by MDRC. Facilitator Jennifer Phillips will provide context to the Joyce Foundation's Transitional Jobs Research Demonstration Project, and Mindy Tarlow, CEO of the Center for Employment Opportunities in New York, will provide context and lessons learned as a provider involved in the Hard to Employ Research Demonstration Project.

Implementing Transitional Jobs as a Reentry Strategy: Lessons Learned from Departments of Corrections
This session will focus on state funded Transitional Jobs programs developed as reentry strategies in two states. Presenters will share their program designs, funding mechanisms, and partnerships and will candidly share both the successes and setbacks experienced in the development and implementation phases of their projects. This is an ideal session for anyone interested developing or better understanding how states can support the development of Transitional Jobs programs.

Entrepreneurship & Reentry: Creating Employment Opportunities for People with Criminal Records
As persons with criminal records continue to be locked out of employment opportunities, innovative programs have begun to develop opportunities for people with criminal records to advance in developing entrepreneurial ventures. This session will review the policy and practice around the country and assist participants in finding the resources to develop similar opportunities in their communities.
